× Carl Orff's epic choral masterpiece Carmina Burana is one of the most popular and widely known pieces of music ever written. Orff set to music twenty-four texts from the manuscript of courtly poetry and dramatic texts. These texts, collectively known as Carmina Burana, were found in 1803 in a monastery in Bavaria. In a sensational mix of dance and drama Paul Destrooper, Artistic Director of Ballet Victoria, explores and interprets the themes of the songs: power, corruption, over-indulgence, humour, and beauty. Imaginative, passionate, and driven by the power of music and choreography, this will be an extraordinary dance experience! Generously sponsored by Joan Farlinger, and Salt Spring Coffee.
