Event Notes

Esteemed Canadian pianist Jane Coop is back for a special recital to commemorate ArtSpring’s 25th Anniversary on the very grand piano she advised on so many years ago. Join us for a beautiful hour-long recital of Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, and Debussy on Friday morning, April 19 at 11am.

Coop is one of Canada’s most prominent and distinguished artists. At nineteen, she clinched First Prize in the CBC's Young Performers Competition and triumphed at the Washington International Competition, propelling her into the limelight. Since then, she captivated audiences in over twenty countries, in eminent venues globally, from Wigmore Hall to Carnegie, to the Bolshoi Hall in St. Petersburg, showcasing her virtuosity with renowned orchestras and in solo performances.

A stalwart in music education, Coop served as a senior professor and Head of the Piano Division at the University of British Columbia's School of Music. Coop's stellar reputation led to invitations to judge esteemed international competitions and serve on various arts foundation panels. Her sixteen recordings, including three Juno-nominated albums, have received widespread acclaim and airplay on classical radio stations globally.

Recognized for her lifetime artistic achievements, Coop was appointed to the Order of Canada in December 2012 and later to the Order of British Columbia in May 2019. Her enduring influence and contributions continue to enrich the world of classical music.
