Can we still save the oceans? Salt Spring Forum guest, Rashid Sumaila is the man to ask.
Professor Rashid Sumaila and his colleague Daniel Pauly have provided scientific evidence for a simple solution: All fishing on the high seas should be banned. Earlier this year, their research and advocacy earned them the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, widely regarded as the "Nobel Prize for the Environment". Dr. Sumaila is Director of the Fisheries Economics Research Unit at the UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries. He has worked in fisheries and natural resource projects all over the world and his advice has been sought out by NATO and by many governments. Come and join the discussion.
