Event Notes
Journey into the captivating realm of Carnatic music with “Transcendent Talas”, an awe-inspiring concert that explores the power of rhythm. Celebrating the genius of the mridangam maestro Trichy Sankaran, we proudly present his original compositions with breathtaking and virtuosic performances in an ensemble led by Sankaran (mridangam) and featuring by Raman Kalyan (flute), VVS Murari (violin), Curtis Andrews (percussion), and Jared Burrows (guitar). This spellbinding group promises an evening of soul-stirring compositions, where a kaleidoscope of rhythms and South Indian melodies converge in harmonious resonance.
Trichy Sankaran, who turned 81 in 2023, shows no signs of slowing down. He has been at the forefront of Carnatic music (South Indian art music) for over 60 years and is considered one of the elites in the world of Indian rhythm. As a master of the two-headed mridangam drum as well as kanjira (frame drum), he has concertized on stages all over the world.
