Event Notes
Jon Kimura Parker needs little introduction. His journey from growing up in Vancouver to performing as a classical pianist in the great concert halls of the world is well documented. He is well known for his dynamic performances and for his passion andenthusiasm for classical music, taking on roles advising and directing numerous festivals and teaching passionately as Professor of Piano at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice university and lecturing at Julliard and Yale. He is an officer of the Order of Canada.
This Forum discussion will, amongst other topics, explore his thoughts on the role that classical music, and the arts and culture in general, play in the health and well-being of society as a whole, and on the individual and shared joy that audience members experience during an exceptional performance.
For our joy, Jackie, as he is known, has agreed to give a short performance on the piano. Something not to be missed!
