Event Notes
Professor Turner is British Columbia's foremost ethnobotanist with decades of extensive research carried out with Indigenous communities. Her research identifies and examines the role that plants have had in the culture of these communities, and looks at the effects Indigenous people have had historically, on the landscape of Canada. Through her great insight and research we are lucky to be offered the chance to learn more about our own relationship with the natural world, and how plants have, and can, play a vital role in the sustainability of human life. Nancy Turner currently teaches at the University of Victoria, is the author of several books and was admitted into the Order of British Columbia in 1999.
