We are living in difficult – what many call ‘historic’ – times. Globally, humans face serious collective challenges including political turmoil, polarization of beliefs, and climate change. Can humanity learn from history to effectively address the problems we face today?

To help us answer this question, world-renowned historian Margaret MacMillan will join the Salt Spring Forum in conversation.

MacMillan recently completed a decade-long term as Warden of St Antony’s College and Professor of International History at the University of Oxford. She is currently a Professor of History at the University of Toronto.

MacMillan is an awarding-winning author of the international bestsellers Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World, The War that Ended Peace, and Nixon in China. She is also the author of The Uses and Abuses of History. MacMillan’s most recent book is History’s People: Personalities and the Past, which comprises her 2015 CBC Massey Lectures.

*The Forum's fall series is proudly presented by the Country Grocer.
